ABOUT USFounders Len Stecklow and Jeff Filimon met at work and quickly came to the realization that they both had a passion and an affinity for great wine and food. They decided to take that passion to the next logical step to see if they could produce a wine that they would both love and could share with others. They began searching for wine making facilities in the San Francisco area and investigating sources for great fruit. They believe they found both. They crushed their first vintage in 2005 and have been thoroughly enjoying creating new releases each year since then to great success. Their approach is to go as natural as possible by using native fermentation and whole clusters, allowing the wine to age in the barrel as long as it needed. Len grew up in a household in New York where fine wines were always served with meals. His father was in the business of warehousing wines that would eventually be sent to retailers in the New York area. As a result, his family had access to exceptional wines and even at a young age, Len was fortunate enough to taste world class wines — his devotion has lasted a lifetime. Jeff’s enthusiasm and dedication to developing his palate and knowledge of fine wines developed after he moved to New York out of college, where he had access to an amazing selection of both wonderful wines and food. After leaving New York and moving to San Francisco, closer to the heart of the wine industry, Jeff’s pursuit of knowledge and love of wine continued to grow to the point where making wine became a reality. Jeff and Len combined these two unique experiences both based on a passion for wine and the powerful effect is has when it’s combined with great food, to found Nola Winery. They believe they have, without fail, produced wines that you will enjoy paired with your favorite food or on its own. |
